Don't worry! That's exactly how I felt this past year. The first step is to just start the club, meaning get it approved and start advertising. Look for club sponsors that may know about debate. You can also go on the National Speech and Debate Association and look at its resources to gain a better understanding of how competitive debate works. Also, if you know of any other schools in your area that compete, reach out to their coach and let them know you're trying to start a team.
